Arrowhead Stadium (2 of 2)

Our last day in Kansas City was the initial reason for making our trip down there - to the Vikings game we went! And a perfect day it was.  The sun was shining, the clouds were few and the tailgaters were many. It was quite an adventure just getting into the stadium.  The KC Royals stadium is right next to Arrowhead (see below) so it's quite an environment for sports fans! Mike gave us a parking pass and it was kind of a wild goose chase to find it. Of course we didn't have a very specific idea of where we were going. We just kept following traffic and the direction of the police officers and found our way into the stadium.

Our parking spot was laughable so I had to include it in this blog. (It's the one on the left parked right off the road) ha!

We got there awhile before the game so we could hang out with Mike on the field and watch the players warm up. It was so fun to chat with them and see their pre-game routines! And the stadium was SO cool. For all you Vikings fans out there, I recommend going to any other stadium than the Metrodome to understand how cool it would be to get a new stadium here. The outdoor football atmosphere is awesome and the Chiefs have something really special going. The fans are loyal and are anything but obnoxious like the Packer fans we endured last year at Lambeau. It was such a pleasant environment. Here are a few pictures of the boys warming up...

Cullen Loeffler, the long snapper from Texas. He is my favorite guy on the team.

Owner, Zigi Wilf shaking hands with his investments. :)
Perfect catch Adrian!

Biggest guy on the field. Phil Loadholt - 6'8'', 343lbs.

Jared Allen with his positions coach.
My mom making friends with some Chiefs fan. Never stops. :)

It was an awesome day. Thankfully we were in the 2% of the entire stadium that was covered by shade. We watched in pity as the other 98% slowly roasted. People were pealing off clothes because it got so hot but I was a very happy camper.  We had a great time even despite the loss. We saw some cool plays and even got to sing the SKOL song with other Vikings fans in our section. I love going on road trips and I know they'd be even more fun if we came out with a win but I have a lot of faith in our guys that it's not over yet.

Kansas City was the first city that I've ever visited where I left feeling as though I could actually live there someday.  I loved everything about it.  It has milder temperatures in the winter, hotter ones in the summer, great schools and lots of sports, a cute downtown and lots to do and see. If Mike ever gets "traded" to another team, I sure hope it's the Chiefs. I could get used to Arrowhead Stadium each week. But don't get me wrong...I love our Vikings and I will cheer for them wholeheartedly even if they are 0-16. Bring it on Cardinals!
Ty & I waiting for our flight. Disappointed about our L and that we have to go home.
