Home sweet home

Although short, it was sweet indeed - last weekend I was able to return "home" for a quick visit.  My house in Medina will always be home, regardless of my current address in Northfield. It had been awhile (before Christmas I think) since I'd been able to visit without an agenda - no holiday, no birthday...just a quick reminder of what normalcy used to look, feel and taste like.  The journey down memory lane started Saturday afternoon when I pulled in the driveway at my sister and brother-in-laws house in Plymouth, which was our address as well until we moved to Northfield. The most obvious difference now, other than the lack of 2 additional cars in the driveway, is the presence of the carseat in the doorway, the books and toys all over the floor, the Bumbo seat next to the couch, spit-up rags everywhere, breast milk packed into the freezer and the most precious little human I have ever seen.

Ok...so, I can explain... (never a great way to start anything) But really, this series is adorable. Ty & I took Haddie for a drive to get her to nap (mission successful) and of course we decided to go to Caribou.  Shortly after our return, as we sat in the kitchen chatting as we used to regularly do, she woke up and wanted to join us.  She liked the cold cup so she started sucking on the outside...and, well, you can see the rest play out...

I know what you're thinking...and of course she didn't actually get any. We didn't want her to hurt herself with the straw so Ty put a nipple from her bottle over the straw. I am a proud Auntie to see her with Caribou already. And as soon as she can actually have it, I will take her there. :)

Haddie is adorable but not quite as gorgeous as her mama...someday. :)

The night continued according to routine right into bath time...

Despite this face, Haddie LOVES bath time. :)

Max.

It was a wonderful visit with the Aasness family. It reminded me how much I miss living together and processing our day-to-day events. But it makes me cherish each visit even more and I know there is a lot of fun to be had together.

I couldn't think of a better way to end the visit than my dad's waffles on Sunday morning (not to mention maple syrup made right in our hometown)! It was a simple weekend but one that I cherish more than I can explain. It's the simple times in life that are the most meaningful.
