2010 in review...

Another year has passed..it is hard to believe how much happens in a year.
Pictures tell the story much better than I can so I've chosen a picture (or two) to represent each month of our year...

January: The Vikings season came to an end after an incredibly exciting year. It was a season that we will never forget (meeting Brett Favre was something I never thought I'd be able to check off my life-list!). I am very proud of Mike for doing such a wonderful job covering the season. I know it was a special one for him, too.

February: Our family cruise was a blast. We had almost 20 Wobschalls on one ship at the same time...might never happen again. We were also celebrating the life of Grandpa Wobschall, who we lost only days before the trip.

March: This is my best-little-friend Ally. I took care of her from the day she moved to Minnesota in Spring of 09 and it didn't take long to fall in love with her (and her whole family!). I miss her now that I don't see her every week but her adorable picture is plastered all over our place!
April: We took a late winter trip to Florida with the Chorley side. It was great having all 7 of us together-we had a blast walking on the beach, playing lots of tennis, going out to eat, visiting with the grandma...it was a trip that we'll always remember for marking the end of our pre-baby era. We cherish family trips...

May: I graduated from my Masters program at the University of St. Thomas, which was a great 2 years of my academic life! I made some life-long friends, too-which has been an unexpected blessing. :)

June: my time in Haiti volunteering after the 1/12/10 earthquake was an experience that has touched me in ways I can't put into words. My attempt at describing my experience is at my blog @ www.volunteerjournals.org/author/awobschall

July: We didn't miss a beat in July...I returned from Haiti, interviewed for a new job, accepted the job, went to Hayward, returned from Hayward, went to Duluth, returned from Duluth, moved to Northfield and started my new job...just in time for Mike to leave for training camp to begin another Viking season. We spent the 4th of July at the wonderful Riegelman family cabin in Hayward,WI. We had a great time truly relaxing outdoors and enjoying the peace and quiet. The boys and I did a lot of fishing and I got this guy-who I then dropped into the boat accidentally. Thankfully Clint picked him up and held him for our picture.

August: Mike spent much of August in Mankato for training camp, I slowly acclamated to St. Olaf and we celebrated our 2nd anniversary. August also brings our annual State Fair trip, which we always enjoy! Corn and crepes are our must-haves...and this year we were lucky enough to see Carrie Underwood at the Grandstand. It was a great year at the fair.

September: On Sept. 7th Hadley Luella made her graceful debut into the world. We are all in love with her! Despite liking to label things, we were all given a wonderful new label-aunt and uncle, mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, etc. She is already growing up too fast!

October: We took another weekend trip to the Riegelman cabin with "our" husband, Clint. Clint and I share a passion for photography so we were hopeful to capture some fall color. This is the road leading to the driveway of the cabin. We saw some beautiful landscape. It was a great break from the not-so-wonderful Vikings season and the busy St. Olaf routine.

November: Thanksgiving is always one of my favorite holidays. No pressure, no gifts...just food, family, and thankfulness. It was a very busy fall for me and Mike but we found a way to have some fun in between the Viking losses...My mom & I got to go see (and meet, obviously) the Canadian Tenors at Treasure Island. It was an incredible concert and I was lucky my mom asked me to go with her! We had a blast. They are wonderful...

December: The holidays came and went so quickly that I didn't even have a chance to prepare for them before they were gone. Mike flew out Christmas morning for the Vikings game in Philly and then they ended up getting stuck there for 4 days so I spent some extra time at my parents. I also was honored to spend a few days with Haddie bear. We had a great time...my few days with her were 2 of my favorite days of year. She is precious.

It was an incredible year. I can't believe how much we accomplished and the fun that was had. We will be lucky to have a year like this one again... Reflecting on 2010 has been a great chance to think about what we'd like 2011 to bring. One of the things that came up over the holidays is that our family is all moving in different directions so quickly that we seem to be missing some of the special moments we once were all able to catch. So here we are...blogging was one of the ways we decided to try to stay in touch better. Nothing more appropriate than  our year in reflection came to mind as to how to begin 2011.

Here's to seeing what life has in store for us this year...cheers! :)
